History

Puris Moedani - described as a hidden gem nestled within the heart of Old Tbilisi, situated in a vibrant neighborhood, this hotel holds a special place in the historical tapestry of the city. Puris Square, meaning "bread square" in Georgian, was once a bustling center for the trading of bread and bakery products. Along with Gorgasali, Meydan, and Gudiashvili, it forms a chain of four main squares that define the character and structure of Kvemo Kala, reflecting the city's rich history and architectural splendor.

In the 19th century, Kvemo Kala played a vital role in the commercial and economic landscape of the region. Gudiashvili Square, formerly known as Abbas-Abad, became the exclusive location for salt trade after 1861, which was home to ovens and flour warehouses.

Today, the Puris Moedani Hotel stands as a testament to the past, carefully reconstructed from two collapsed houses. With a deep appreciation for history and authenticity, MP Group Hospitality has transformed this space into a 17-room residence that embodies the essence of Puri Square while embracing modernity.

The address holding two numbers of 1 & 2 underlines symbolic significance, representing the fusion of two buildings into one harmonious structure. Embracing this meaning, the hotel's main Restaurant 1.2 located on a “half minus” floor, offers a delightful blend of European and Georgian cuisines with a contemporary twist.

Experience the allure of Puris Moedani, where tradition and modernity come together to a level of attention to details which create an unforgettable stay in Old Tbilisi.
